The main Iranian Kurdish party speaks to the “Green Movement”
“Democracy in its real form can only be obtainable when, as mentioned in the statement in regard to the diversity that exists in Iran, the national rights of the various nationalities is acknowledged explicitly, so that the contents of the statement can take a step away from its shortcomings and attract wider support.”
Medya News – In a statement circulated in the media, the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan also know as PDKI has issued a communique on a statement by a group of green movement activists calling themselves “Secular Supporters of the Green Movement of Iran” that calls for an Iran without discrimination.
The statement by the Green Movement Loyalists reads “we believe the 30 years of lawlessness, oppression, and lack of freedom, torture, killings and disregards for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other universal conventions has made this point clear that the current system has lost all it legitimacy and credibility.”
The PDKI which has remained silent on the “Green Movement” in reposnse to this statement said that “there is a reference to the future of Iran and a series of demands in regard to the rights and liberties of the people of Iran that is noteworthy and can become a source of support. However, at the same time, what the statement has left out is the rights of the suppressed nations that the statement only vaguely mentions within the framework of eradicating discrimination.”
The PDKI statement adds “In this regard, the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan along with welcoming this initiative by this group of Iranian compatriots stresses on this reality that democracy in its real form can only be obtainable when, as mentioned in the statement in regard to the diversity that exists in Iran, the national rights of the various nationalities is acknowledged explicitly, so that the contents of the statement can take a step away from its shortcomings and attract wider support.”
NPR, a US National Public Radio had aired at the end of December of 2009 on the green movement and its connection to the strong 30 to 40 million non-Persian in Iran. Quil Lawrence, the journalist producing the report said “The Iranian Kurdistan Democratic Party has kept a base for decades in the northern Iraqi city of Koya. At the moment, they are also hosting a number of exiles from Iran, but these are not members of the Green Movement. They’re Iranian Kurds who have fled because they say the Iranian government discriminates against them.”
One of those interviewed in the report said “the movement will succeed if it joins its cause with ethnic minorities. But that’s something he believes the Green Movement is, so far, afraid to do.”

I read the statement, and I thouth, how can I work with those who , in this long statement don not even mention our names.it is very difficult for them to express the names of nationalities in iran .they think when they name us that means they have acceopted our existance and therefore, they must recognize us.i suggest they rewrite the statement and write specifically our ethnicity of Baluch,Kurd,Lor,Turk,Arab and Turkman. If they deny to put our names in a statement ,that means they dont believe our existance, in this way we can test them if they are honest with us or not.
